MULTAN: 17-year-old girl, woman cricketer, Halima Rafiq, who raised her voice against the harassment issue against The Multan Cricket Board committed suicide, Aaj News reported.

According to the reports, the family claimed that Halima after highlighting the harassment issue on the media was being threatened continuously. The family further revealed that Under-19 female cricketers were being blackmailed to join back the team at Multan Cricket Ground.

The family added up that Halima raised the particular issue of Harassment on the media, whereas she did not informed the police. After the hype of this issue, many notices and lawsuits were issued against her, from which she was unable to cope up and she committed suicide.

The sources revealed that the suicide was attempted by consuming some poisonous medium, but still the perfect reason is yet to be ascertained.

Halima's family buried Halima and performed her last rights in Multan, whereas the police claims that they didn't informed us about the suicide attempt and buried her, regarding which they have started a kick-off investigation.

It is pertinent to know that in the year 2013 Halima Rafiq along with four other female team players claimed that they are being harassed by the Multan Cricket Board, on which the PCB had setup two-member committee for the process of investigation. The committee also recorded the statements of three players, but was unable to record Halima's statement because of her absence.
